Hi! Welcome to the Syrup usa web site! Some of this is still under construction -let us know if you have any suggestions.
Syrup usa was formed early in '94 when Seana left the Swirlies to do her own material after releasing three CDs on the Taang! label. Sam was recruited to play bass from Sydra, and Orrin joined on drums shortly thereafter. A few months later, Matt, who has appeared on tracks by Azalia Snail and Sebadoh, was added as organist and 2nd guitarist.
We've released two limited-run demo cassettes and one single, all produced by Dambuilders guitarist Eric Masunaga. Our single is the first release on our own "Tru-Luv" label, and is distributed through Surefire [Boston], Cargo [Chicago], and Revolver [SF]. A second single was recorded by Christina Files (who replaced Seana in the Swirlies) at Fort Apache, remixed by Christina and Eric at Q-Division, and should be available shortly.
Another song will appear on a 7" compilation on [Lemonhead] Nic Dalton's Half-A-Cow label out of Australia, and another will be on a CD comp released by the zine *Coolbeans*.
We've appeared on bills with such diverse acts as: Helium, Eric's Trip, Stereolab, Huggy Bear, Six Finger Satellite, Team Dresch, Congo Norvell, Throwing Muses, Magnetic Fields, Versus, Slant 6, Air Miami, and Babe the Blue Ox, the Pastels, and Yo La Tengo. For a nearly complete list, click here.
Currently we're working on new material, shopping for a label to release a full-length CD, and planning a tour.
